In Memory of Co Meulman

On July 31st, 2020, Co Meulman passed away at the age of 96. Co had been a steadfast friend and garden volunteer at Wester-Amstel since 1993. We will miss Co and his spirit and we will never forget the energy he brought to Wester-Amstel and our lives.

If you’re ever looking for someone to talk to about the Amstelland or the historical significance of Wester-Amstel, then Finette van der Heide is your woman. She may have only become an official friend of Wester-Amstel in 2020, but as I quickly discovered, her relationship with W.A. goes back decades.

A beautiful painting of the park and gardens has found a new home in the hallway at Wester-Amstel. It’s an impression piece by artist Linda Hartman.

Wester-Amstel’s park and gardens produce a wide range of crops and goods throughout the year. We harvest vegetables, herbs, hard and soft fruits, and even firewood. We’re also really proud to say that we grow everything the old fashioned way, meaning there’s no fertilizers or pesticides involved!
