Looking for the new Herma!
We are now in the middle of our fourth season of our successful concert series, Jazz at Wester-Amstel. Tickets for the 7 December concert with Ineke Vandoorn & Marc van Vugt are probably sold out. This fourth season, which runs until June 2026, is once again made possible thanks to all our volunteers, and in particular the power couple Fleurine and Herma. Fleurine looks after the stage, her natural habitat. While Herma is the powerhouse behind the scenes.
Herma is our sometimes visible, sometimes invisible spider in the web, ensuring that every concert runs flawlessly from an organisational perspective. Our indispensable woman behind the scenes.
We were therefore taken aback when Herma told us she would be stepping down as concert organiser after this season. Hence this announcement: we are looking for someone who can become our new Herma.
Whose shoes need filling?
Our concert organiser is one of the driving forces behind the Jazz at Wester-Amstel concerts. They ensure that everything runs smoothly. They oversee the finances, publicity, ticket sales and visitor reception. Together with Fleurine, they will make decisions about the line-up of artists brought in by Fleurine. The concert organiser works closely with the rest of the close-knit team of volunteers and provides reinforcement where necessary. They liaise with the board of Friends of Wester-Amstel. And of course, they thoroughly enjoy every fantastic concert!
We expect organisers to have some experience in organising small-scale events and working with volunteers. The time commitment is on average one to one and a half days per month for nine months of the year. The preferred start date is this spring, so that Herma's successor can work alongside her for a few months to learn the ropes.
